Setting out from the premise that intercultural dialogue is a basic instrument for the understanding and evaluation of differences in creativity, this project aims to facilitate the circulation of ideas and works in a context of international exchange. The dimension of the laboratory and meeting among people and ideas from distant geographic and linguistic places or in any case different one from another, has always been a fundamental principle of our culture. That is why we called artists and operators to share yet more processes of creation, production and transmission of the various branches of knowledge and to investigate relationships with cultures from outside Europe (from the Mediterranean area to Africa), more influential in Europe's cultural and social humus everyday, bringing life to fertile new areas of co-habitation and creativity. The work focuses on dialogue through dance, through creating workshops,meetings and shows.
The objective of this project of artistic residence for choreographers and dancers, conceived by Maurizia Settembri and Giorgio Rossi, is to know each other, communicate and build a dialogue. The dialogue will be created through the listening, the natural transmission of languages, the observation and the work together. The work will, therefore, not be conducted as a class in which someone teaches sequences of movements. The work (through which the artists will know each other and communicate) will be primarily based on simplicity, so the laboratory will be structured on the idea of improvisations. The objective of the project is also to create a performance that will be held on May 22, the Euro-Mediterranean Day of Intercultural Dialogue. Therefore the research will be focused on developing an "elastic choreography" or "instant choreography". The names can be different, but the concept is the same: it is an ephemeral choreography, which vanish as soon as it happens. It is clear then, that the objective is not to create a choreography one for another, or to make a solo. The theme of the research and work is linked to three elements: the earth (that is below us, on which we lean the feet, the defined), the horizon (that is in the middle, between the earth and the sky, something that allow us to cross) and the sky (that is above us and that allows us to dream

Ayman Al Fayat. Born in Egypt. He began his artistic career in'90 in the National Dance Company of Folklore, Cairo. Since 1993 he works with Cairo Modern Dance Theatre of the Cairo Opera House, first as a dancer (with more than sixteen performances), and then as assistant to the choreographer Walid Aouni. Since 2001 Ayman he is a choreographer. His performances have been presented at major dance festivals in France, Italy, Brazil and Egypt. He has participated in many international workshops: Dud Blumenthal (Belgium); Iniake, Wim Vandekeybus Company (Belgium); Tio & Riky, Xerus Company (Italy); Fred Vallion, (France); Dress (Netherlands); Kwame, (United States).
Silvia Bugno. Specializes in Paris with C. Lancelle and P. Goss. In 2000 she attended the academy Island Dance directed by C. Carlson. In 2003 she met the centre Sosta Palmizi. She continued her training with M. Airaudu, M. Abbondanza, A. Bertoni, L. Casiraghi, N. Reehorst (student of W. Vandekeybus), Aida Vainieri (student of Fr Bausch). Since 2001, she creates dance choreographies: La Sposa Bianca; Al Lupo. C'era una volta un bambino che piangeva sempre; Gelo rosa; La Casa; Danzando Lolita.
Ebru Cansiz was born in Istanbul in 1980. In 1999 she attended the White Mountain Dance Festival where she learns the techniques of modern dance and classical repertoire. In 2000 she graduated at Mimar Sinan University of Fine Arts. During her studying years she attended the summer courses of the Royal Ballet. In the same year she began her artistic career. Ebru dances as a soloist and first dancer with the Istanbul State Opera and important choreographers as Ugur Seyrek, Jack Gallagher, William Forsyth, Aysun Aslan, Christopher D'Amboise, Yuri Gregorovich and Mehmet Balkan.
Vincenzo Carta was born in Syracuse in'78. In parallel to the studies in architecture in Florence, he began the training as a dancer. He studied at the C.E.M. (Center En Movement) Lisbon and at the Performing Arts Research and Training Studios in Brussels. The duo Elucubrazioni (OPART Lisbon) is of 2001. In 2003 Audience with solo designed as a "drama of democracy" is presented at the It's Festival in Brussels, The Last Dance of Syracuse and Danze d'inverno of Florence are also of 2003. In 2004 he begins a collaboration with B. Vandewalle for the project We-go which has been presented in several international festivals and in 2006 was selected for the project MOVING_movimento of Fabbrica Europa. The new project with Vincenzo Carta, Inbetween, is of 2007.
Raffaella Galdi. Italian dancer and choreographer based in Berlin. From '92 to'97 she studies in Italy, France and Holland. Since '97 she works as an independent dancer and choreographer in Germany, the Netherlands and Portugal. She attended many international festivals and collaborated with various choreographers: Stuart Thom, Tomi Paasonen, Rui Horta, Helge Müsial, Toula Limnaios, Bernard Baumgarten, Labor Gras, Christoph Winkler, Andy Deneys. In '97 she has been awarded as Best dancer at the It's Festival of Amsterdam with the performance Elle s'appelle Rebecca. In 2003 her solo gets the 3rd place at the Das Beste Tanz Only Schauspielhaus, Foyer of Leipzig. In '06 was awarded with the public price for the solo Legna at the Tanzherbst Festival in Dresden.
Liz Lea was born in Sydney. She studied in U.K. (Manly Dance Arts Centre, London Contemporary Dance School, Akedemi) and India (Darpana Academy). She started making choreography in'98, merging Indian dance with contemporary dance and martial arts. She made some reinterpretation of the work of important figures such as Ruth St. Denis and Anna Pavlova. She danced and taught in several European countries, in Africa, Asia and the USA. She works for the English National Opera and has worked with the Bare Bones and Mavin Koo Dance Companies. She received 2 awards for the solo Inland at the Solo Tanz Competition in Germany and she was also among the candidates for Jeerwood Choreography Awards in Uk. In 2005 she presented the solo Bluebird at the Royal Opera House in London and has been touring with the Sankalpam Dance Company. In 2007 she presented the duo ero seris, commissioned by the Royal Opera House and she participated at the P.Art.Y Digital Dance Festival in Seoul. She was in India to follow the footsteps of Anna Pavlova tour of '23, working on the reinterpretation of Ajanta Frescos.
Virpi Pahkinen was born in Finland. She studied piano at the Conservatory in Helsinki, and trained on the choreographer courseat the University College of Dance in Stockholm in 1989-1992. Virpi Pahkinen has been succesfully touring the world in her dual role as choreographer and solo dancer. Her solos have met critical acclaim in over 30 countries including Australia, Mexico, South Africa and Lebanon. She has also created works for several dancers: Bardo for five dancers, Silence of Trembling Hands and Zefirum commissioned by Ballet Poznanski, and La Lettre de Chasse en Soie for Vietnamese National Opera Ballet. The work Bardo was also made as a TV-production for The Swedish Television. She has also choreographed and appeared in a short dance film for wide screen, Atom by Atom, an existential thriller filmed on the remarkable volcanic mountains of Lanzarote. Her musicality and her interest in light as architecture has attracted artists of the highest quality, the lighting designer Jens Sethzman for instance, the composer Akemi Ishijima and live-musicians such as Jon Rose (violin,etc.) and Sussan Deyhim (song). In 2001, at the International Solo Dance Theatre Festival in Stuttgart, Virpi Pahkinen won the 1st Choreography Prize with her solo Prayer of the Scorpio. In 2002 she was awarded Carina Ari Foundation Gold Medal. In combination of music, staging and lighting, she makes her body become its own calligraphy in space of time. She has taken part as a dancer in several of Ingmar Bergman´s theatre productions at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm.
Snjezana Premus (Slovenia). She started in 1990 at the Maribor Dance Company. She graduated at the London Contemporary Dance Centre. From'95 to'98 she danced with the London Yelp's Dance Company. Since '98 she collaborates with major artists including Emily Claid, Luis Franck, Mark Tompkins, AL Harwood, A. Warshaw, Nir Ben Gal, Vera Mantero, Julyien Hamilton, David Zambrano, Iztok Kovac and Lisa Nelson. In 2004 she made a series of performances focused on the body and identity. Since 2000 her research was based on the relationship between sound and movement. Scratch was born from this research. She began a collaboration with Ignaz Schick and the project Amplified Body - Relaxes Me Everything That Is Loud was created. The duo focuses on the abstract and electronic materials. After this, the project No tea No Dogs was created. She worked as a dancer for major European companies: YELP Dance Company (London / Athens); Dance Theatre Ljubljana; Elena Alonso Dance Projects (Berlin / Madrid); EN KNAP Company, Mateja Bucar (international project Brothers Karamazov shown within Fabbrica Europa '07); Betontanz Dance Theatre company.
Benjamin Vandewalle. Born in Belgium in 1983, he studied at the Royal Ballet School, Belgium, Amsterdam Theaterschool and PARTS (Performing Arts Research and Training Studios) in Brussels. Among his work experiences: Amor Constante by A.T. Keersmaeker (2002), Robert Scott by Forsythe (2003); Achterland by A.T. Keermaeker (2003); Set and Reset by Trisha Brown (2004). His first creation, We-go (2004), is the result of the collaboration with Vincenzo Carta, followed in the same year by Performance / Installation # 1 and # 2, danced by Theodosia States and Sandra Ortega. In 2005 were created Isolation Project and Theatre de la Guillottine, installation / performance. In 2007, together with Vincenzo Carta, he creates Inbetween.
Jean Tamba (Senegal), graduated at the Ecole Nationale des Arts in Dakar. He created the Company 5ème Dimension. He was the artistic director of the Festival Kaay Fecc (Wolof language "come and dance") in Dakar. In 2001 he created the association Kaay Fecc that works for the development and professionalization of the art of dance in Senegal. The cultural eclecticism is at the base of the artistic production of Tamba. With Andrea Lorenzetti, a dancer of the Ballet of Marseille, Jean discovers the principles of neo-classical composition and of the technical academic rigor. For 15 years he deals with the artistic direction of the company Ballets Africains, led by Maestro Kounta. He interpreted Le coq est mort by Suzanne Linke, he danced in the company Sotiba Boys and in different Senegalese creations. It approaches to modern-jazz with the American Marvi, to afro-jazz with Chuck Davis and Ousmane Cissé. Jean Tamba is also a musician and has recorded a cd as percussionist.
Moustapha Gueye. Senegalese dancer and choreographer, he studied at the Ecole des Sables in Toubab Dialaw (Senegal) and continues his training in many schools and other educational institutions. He is one of the greatest dancers on the stages of Dakar. He interpreted Le coq est mort of Suzanne Linke.
Prince Dethmer Nzaba was born in Brazzaville (Congo) in 1983. He discovers the passion for dance thanks to his father and his group Percussion Prince Dedina. He joined the opening of the exhibition of Lyon in '96. In the while he continued his training with Boris Nganga in the company Ngoma za Kongo and he created his first choreography in 2002. Until 2005 he participates in the training of CCF Brazzaville held by Paco Decina, Orcy Nzaba, Boris Nganga, Rufine and Salia Sanou. In 2006 he participated in the Festival of Mabina Danse Crizogone Diagouya and in 2007 he continued his training activities at the Festival Makinu Bantu directed by Salia Sanou at the Centre Culturel Français. In 2007 he was the interpreter of the spectacle Matanga ma ya ngombé by Orchy Nzaba and of this period is also his solo Parcours, selected for the Festival Mantsina sur scène of Dieudonné Niangouna in December '07. Nzaba is selected in the category 'Solo' for the showcase Danse l'Afrique danse in Tunis and participates in the meetings of Brazzaville Makinu Bantu in April 2008.
Michel Kouakou was born in Ivory Coast. He founded the Daara Dance Company in 2003. He studied the contemporary American dance and he is profoundly influenced by one of the most renowned choreographers of USA, Reggie Wilson, who he currently works with. In his choreographic creations he mixes both the African and American elements with a constant tension between them. His work plays with the identity and disorientation, creating effects of great suggestion.
Pape N'Diaye is a dancer, teacher and choreographer from Senegal. He toured in Africa and throughout the world. Since 1989 he danced with several international companies, including the National Ballet of Senegal, The Aliguère du Senegal, Cinquième Dimension Compagnie Jant-Bi, Ballet Sinomew, Forêt Sacrée, Manhattan Dance School. His rich training includes all styles of traditional African dance and different styles of contemporary dance. He was a sabar dance teacher (traditional Senegalese dance) for many famous dancers. In the United States he is known for his dance classes of djembe, kutiro and sabar. N'Diaye is also the vocalist of Doomou Africa, a new band of contemporary African music. N'Diaye is the founder of Ndaje Festival of African Music and Dance that takes place each year in Boston and is the executive producer of the festival New York New Year's African Dance Festival in New York.
Maria-Helena Pinto lives and works in Maputo (Mozambique). She did part of her dance training in Cuba and she developed her career in the Compagnie Nationale du Mozambique, one of the last large group of this kind in Africa. Later she approaches to contemporary dance. She holds a Master of the dance department of the University of Paris 8. Pinto is carrying out a research centre to encourage the evolution and development of dance in her country.

Dialogue è un progetto, ideato da Maurizia Settembri con Giorgio Rossi, sulla danza e sul confronto culturale. Articolato in diverse tappe, coinvolge in un dialogo umano e artistico 15 giovani danzatori-coreografi Europei, Africani e dell'area del Mediterraneo. Una residenza artistica a Lucignano, curata dall'Associazione Sosta Palmizi, ha dato modo ai protagonisti di lavorare insieme sviluppando sia un percorso comune che individuale. L´obiettivo della residenza è stato quello di imparare a conoscersi, comunicare, costruire un gioco di relazioni. Il dialogo e l'ascolto avvengono tramite trasmissione naturale del proprio linguaggio, attraverso l'osservazione e il lavoro insieme e non tramite sequenze di movimento costruite. Alla base del lavoro creativo sta infatti l'improvvisazione. La ricerca verte sullo sviluppo di un'esperienza di instant coreography, ovvero una coreografia effimera, che si consuma nel momento stesso in cui si sviluppa. Durante il periodo di residenza i tre musicisti hanno creato delle sonorizzazioni inedite legate alla performance di ciascun ballerino. Questi suoni, poi ricomposti, formeranno la speciale melodia dello spettacolo Dialogue, creazione originale che va in scena il 22 maggio '08, Giornata Euro-Mediterranea dedicata al Dialogo Interculturale. L'intera navata della Stazione Leopolda sarà riempita dalla presenza simultanea dei giovani coreografi, ognuno immerso nel sottofondo della propria musica. In un secondo momento, le esperienze prodotte saranno ricomposte in uno spettacolo comune in cui i 15 coreografi daranno vita a una creazione del tutto inedita.

Gli artisti africani sono stati selezionati tra i partecipanti alla rassegna Danse l'Afrique danse promossa da Culturesfrance (Tunisi): Prince Dethmer Nzaba (Congo), Moustapha Gueye (Senegal), Michel Kouakou (Costa d"Avorio), Pape Ibrahima N'Diaye (Senegal), Maria Helena Pinto (Mozambico), Jean Tamba (Senegal).
Dialogue si svolge sotto la guida e il coordinamento del coreografo Giorgio Rossi dell'Associazione Sosta Palmizi. Le composizioni musicali, un ambiente sonoro originale creato per la Leopolda, sono eseguite dal vivo da Michele Rabbia e Alessandro Gwiss del Gruppo Aires Tango.

Dal 2001 danza e crea coreografie tra cui La Sposa Bianca; AL Lupo. C'era una volta un bambino che piangeva sempre; Gelo rosa; La Casa company; Spifferi ; Danzando Lolita con Stefano Benni, Giorgio Rossi produzione Sosta Palmizi; 91 gradi e h2e. Insegna danza da nove anni in molte scuole venete.

Del 2001 è il duo Elucubrazioni (OPART Lisbona), del '03 Audiencewithsolo, concepito come "fiction of democracy", è presentato all' it's Festival di Bruxelles, The Last di Siracusa e Danze d'inverno di Firenze. Nel 2004 inizia la collaborazione con Benjamin Vandewalle per il lavoro We-go che viene presentato in diversi festival internazionali e che nel 2006 viene selezionato per il progetto MOVING_movimento di Fabbrica Europa. Del 2007 è il nuovo progetto Inbetween, sempre in collaborazione con Vandewalle.
Raffaella Galdi. Coreografa e danzatrice italiana residente a Berlino. Dal '92 al '97 studia in Italia, Francia e Olanda. Dal '97 svolge attività di danzatrice e coreografa in Germania, Olanda e Portogallo. Partecipa a vari festival internazionali e collabora con vari coreografi: Thom Stuart, Tomi Paasonen, Rui Horta, Helge Müsial, Toula Limnaios, Bernard Baumgarten, Labor Gras, Christoph Winkler, Andy Deneys. Nel '97 è premiata come Miglior danzatrice all' it's Festival di Amsterdam con la performance Elle s´appelle Rebecca. Nel 2003 Solo ottiene il 3° posto al Das Beste Tanz Solo del Schauspielhaus, Foyer di Leipzig. Nel '06 riceve il premio del pubblico per il solo Legna al Tanzherbst Festival a Dresda.

Nel 2005 ha presentato il solo Bluebird alla Royal Opera House di Londra ed è stata in tour con la Sankalpam Dance Company. Nel 2007 ha presentato il duo eros eris, commissionato dalla Royal Opera House e ha partecipato al P.Art.Y Digital Dance Festival a Seul. Si sta preparando per un viaggio in India sulle orme del tour di Anna Pavlova del '23, lavorando sulla reinterpretazione del suo Ajanta Frescos.
Virpi Pahkinen (Finlandia) Studia pianoforte al conservatorio di Helsinki. Dall' '89 al '92 frequenta il corso di coreografia all'University College of Dance a Stoccolma. Lavora come danzatrice e coreografa riscuotendo successo in oltre 30 paesi inclusi Australia, Messico, Sud Africa, Libano. Nel '96 vince il Finland´s Culture Prize per giovani artisti e il Premio Svenska Dagbladet Opera. Tra le sue principali coreografie figura Bardo per 5 danzatori, realizzato anche per la tv svedese. Per il cinema e la televisione crea Bardo 010, che ha ricevuto il premio The Golden Antenna in Bulgaria nel '98, e Atom by atom, che ha vinto il Carina Ari Grand Prix 2000. Tra le sue coreografie, Silence of Trembling Hands e Zefirum, commissionati dal Ballet Poznanski, e La Lettre de Chasse en Soie per il Vietnamese National Opera Ballet. La sua musicalità e l'interesse per la luce e l'architettura hanno attratto artisti come la light designer Jens Sethzman, il compositore Akemi Ishijima, il musicista Jon Rose, la cantante Sussan Deyhim. Nel 2001 vince il 1° premio per il solo Prayer of the Scorpio all'International Solo Dance Theatre Festival di Stoccarda. Come danzatrice ha preso parte a produzioni teatrali al Royal Dramatic Theatre di Stoccolma, tra cui The Bacchae, Peer Gynt, Goldberg Variations, Space and Time, A Winter´s Tale, Ghostsonata.
Snjezana Premus (Slovenia). Inizia nel '90 nella Maribor Dance Company. Si laurea al London Contemporary Dance Centre. Dal '95 al '98 danza con la London's Yelp Dance Company. Dal '98 collabora con importanti artisti tra i quali Emily Claid, Luis Franck, Mark Tompkins, A.L Harwood, A. Warshaw, Nir Ben Gal, Vera Mantero, Julyien Hamilton, David Zambrano, Iztok Kovac e Lisa Nelson. Nel 2004 realizza una serie di performance focalizzate sul corpo e l'identità. Dal 2000 la sua ricerca si basa sulla relazione tra suono e movimento. Da qui nasce Scratch. Successivamente inizia una collaborazione con Ignaz Schick, da cui nasce il progetto Amplified Body - Everything That Relaxes Me Is Loud in cui il duo si concentra sui materiali astratti ed elettronici. Segue il progetto No tea no Dogs. Lavora come danzatrice per importanti compagnie europee quali YELP Dance Company (Londra/Atene); Dance Theatre Ljubljana; Elena Alonso Dance Projects (Berlino/Madrid); EN KNAP Company; Betontanz Dance Theatre company. Nel 2007 partecipa al progetto internazionale Brothers Karamazov di Mateja Bucar, presentato nell'ambito di Fabbrica Europa '07.
Benjamin Vandewalle nasce in Belgio nel 1983. Si forma presso la Royal Ballet School del Belgio, il Theaterschool di Amsterdam e il P.A.R.T.S. (Performing Arts Research and Training Studios) di Bruxelles. Tra le sue esperienze, la partecipazione a Amor Constante di A. T. De Keersmaeker (2002); Robert Scott di W. Forsythe (2003); Achterland di A.T. De Keermaeker (2003); Set and Reset di Trisha Brown (2004). La sua prima creazione, We-go (2004), nasce dalla collaborazione con Vincenzo Carta; segue nello stesso anno Performance/Installation #1 and #2, danzato da Theodosia Stati e Sandra Ortega. Sono del 2005 Isolation Project e Théatre de la Guillottine, installazione /performance. Nel 2007, sempre con Vincenzo Carta, crea Inbetween.
Jean Tamba (Senegal), si diploma all'École Nationale des Arts a Dakar. Fonda la compagnia 5ème Dimension. E' direttore artistico del Festival Kaay Fecc (in lingua wolof « vieni a danzare ») di Dakar. Creata nel 2001, l'associazione Kaay Fecc svolge attività in favore di sviluppo e professionalizzazione delle arti della danza in Senegal. L'eclettismo culturale è la cifra stilistica della produzione artistica di Tamba. A fianco di Andrea Lorenzetti, ex danzatore del Balletto di Marsiglia, Tamba scopre i principi di composizione neoclassica e si forma al rigore tecnico accademico. Per 15 anni si occupa della direzione artistica della compagnia Ballets Africains, guidata dal Maestro Kounta. È interprete di Le coq est mort di Suzanne Linke, danza nella compagnia Sotiba Boys e in diverse creazioni senegalesi d"avanguardia. Si avvicina al modern-jazz con l'americano Marvi, all'afro-jazz con Chuck Davis e Ousmane Cissé. Jean Tamba è anche musicista e ha inciso un cd come percussionista.
Prince Dethmer Nzaba nasce a Brazzaville (Congo) nel 1983. Scopre la passione per la danza grazie al padre e al suo gruppo Percussion Prince Dedina. Nel '96 partecipa come danzatore all'apertura della Fiera Internazionale di Lione. Il suo percorso di formazione prosegue a fianco di Boris Nganga nella compagnia Ngoma za kongo e, nel 2002, firma la sua prima coreografia. Fino al 2005 partecipa a stage di formazione al CCF di Brazzaville tenuti da Paco Decina, Orcy Nzaba, Boris Nganga, Rufine e Salia Sanou. Nel 2006 partecipa al Festival Mabina Danse di Crizogone Diagouya e nel corso del 2007 continua l'attività di formazione al Festival Makinu Bantu diretto da Salia Sanou al Centre Culturel Français. Nel 2007 è interprete nello spettacolo Matanga ma ya ngombé ed è di questo periodo il suo solo Parcours, selezionato per il Festival Mantsina sur scène di Dieudonné Niangouna nel dicembre '07. Nzaba è selezionato nella categoria «Solos» nell'ambito della rassegna Danse l'Afrique Danse di Tunisi (maggio '08) e, nell'aprile 2008, partecipa agli incontri coreografici di Brazzaville Makinu Bantu.
Moustapha Gueye. Danzatore e coreografo senegalese, studia all'Ecole des Sables di Toubab Dialaw (Senegal) e prosegue la sua formazione in molte altre scuole e strutture formative. E' una delle figure di punta dei più grandi balletti presentati sulle scene di Dakar. È interprete di Le coq est mort di Suzanne Linke.
Michel Kouakou nasce in Costa d"Avorio. Fonda la compagnia Daara Dance nel 2003. Si specializza nella danza contemporanea americana ed è profondamente influenzato da uno dei coreografi più affermati di questo paese, Reggie Wilson, con il quale attualmente lavora. Nelle creazioni coreografiche di Kouakou si intrecciano entrambe le correnti, quella africana e quella americana, in continua tensione tra loro. I suoi lavori giocano con l'identità e lo spaesamento, creando effetti di grande suggestione.
Pape N'Diaye, danzatore, insegnante e coreografo senegalese, compie tourneé in Africa e in tutto il mondo. Dal 1989 danza con diverse compagnie, tra cui il Balletto Nazionale del Senegal, L'Aliguère du Senegal, 5me Dimension, Compagnie Jant-Bi, Ballet Sinomew, Forêt Sacrée e Manhattan Dance School. La sua ricca formazione include tutti gli stili della danza tradizionale africana e diversi stili della danza contemporanea. E' insegnante di danza sabar (tradizionale Senegalese) per molti danzatori famosi. Negli Stati Uniti è noto per le vivaci classi di danza djembe, kutiro e sabar. N'Diaye è anche vocalist della Doomou Africa, una band di musica contemporanea africana. N'Diaye è il fondatore di Ndaje Festival of African Music and Dance che ogni anno si svolge a Boston ed è il produttore esecutivo del festival New York New Year's African Dance Festival a New York.
Maria-Helena Pinto vive e lavora a Maputo (Mozambico). Compie parte della sua formazione in danza a Cuba e sviluppa la sua carriera in seno alla Compagnie Nationale du Mozambique, una delle ultime grandi formazioni del genere nel continente. Successivamente si avvicina alla danza contemporanea. È titolare di un Master al dipartimento danza dell'Università Parigi 8. Pinto sta realizzando un centro di ricerca coreografica per incoraggiare l'evoluzione e lo sviluppo della danza nel suo paese.
