Hamlet - To be ready is everything
Someone once wrote that paradise for a fish is a river without banks.
The river in which our Hamlet swims has banks, whether they are those that make him recognisable or those imposed to make the current of the play flow in a given direction.
An important aim of this production is to push the banks as far away as possible. On one side lies the bank of romantic tradition, on the other that of an avant-garde which at times reduces Hamlet to a demonstration of a preconceived intellectual argument or a useful pretext for discussing something else entirely.
Moving in the broad space between these two alternatives, we sought to explore Shakespeare's text through our theatre practice. Our intention was to present our exploration to an audience while continuing to develop and transform the production over time.
